At San Diego State University I have been involved in several research efforts, including co-authoring a research paper titled “An Experimental Study of the Heat Balance in a Subsonic Wind Tunnel”. For this study, I worked with Dr. Xiaofeng Liu and several other students to do a thermodynamic analysis of the San Diego State University Subsonic Wind Tunnel. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the wind tunnel’s current cooling system and provide the requirements for an upgraded system, in which thermodynamic equilibrium will be reached at lower temperatures. This study was accepted for presentation at the 2022 AIAA SciTech Forum and is published online in the conference proceedings. Our group also intends to publish this paper in an academic journal this upcoming spring.
